Trailblazers Down Parkland

GODFREY — With home-field advantage secured, the Lewis and Clark Community College women’s soccer team can eye the postseason with a little more swagger.

L&C rolled past Parkland College Saturday 11-1 at L&C, locking up the top seed in the postseason NJCAA Region 24 Tournament.

The Trailblazers, ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Division I National Women’s Soccer Poll, got four goals each from Candice Parziani and Boitumelo Rabale to ran their record to 13-2 overall and 6-0 against Region 24 teams.

L&C defeated Southwestern Illinois, its closest rival in the region standings, 1-0 in overtime earlier this week. The Trailblazers have a region game against Illinois Central College remaining, but since the Trailblazers defeated SWIC, any tie for first in the region standings would go to L&C.

“It’s important to get home-field advantage in the tournament,” L&C coach Tim Rooney said. “We’re more comfortable here and we usually play pretty well here.”
